Art Therapy
Art therapy is a form of expressive therapy that uses art materials, such as markers, clay and paints. Art therapy combines traditional psychotherapeutic theories and techniques with an understanding of the psychological aspects of the creative process, especially the affective properties of the different art materials. Art therapists choose materials and interventions appropriate to their clients' needs and design sessions to achieve therapeutic goals and objectives.
Do I have to use art? The answer of course, is no, you don’t have to. However, we will
encourage you to try using art. Art is a powerful way to express ourselves, and is also
a way to learn our true intentions, to practice mindfulness, to process and make sense
of things. Art gives voice to parts of ourselves we don't have words for, it helps us find
perspective and see things we couldn't see before, and allows each person to have a
voice.
