Philosophy
The philosophy of The NESS Counseling Center Inc. is based on two fundamental beliefs in the treatment of the Alcohol / Drug dependent person. Utilizing an integrated treatment modality that provides both treatment and recovery. The first belief is that the individuals Alcoholism/Drug addiction is a symptom of a deeper underlying psychological problem which predisposes the individual to Alcohol/Drug dependency. These significant emotional issues must be addressed in order for the individual to become independent and productive without Alcohol/Drugs.
The second belief is that the individual, in addition to being provided with the necessary counseling services, also needs the modeling and support of the 12-step programs to better ensure success in establishing and maintaining long term recovery. Under the direction of Dennis Brown, MA, MAC, NCAC II, Executive Director, this expanded approach to Alcohol/Drug treatment now includes 12-step involvement in the ongoing process of recovery as necessary and concurrent with the counseling modality of the program.
Additionally, it is the belief of Mr. Brown, that based on the enlarged and more intensive scope of the programs counseling and recovery services to clients, the overall cost and term of treatment will be consistent with the six month to one year treatment term.
To implement this model, we employ counseling and cognitive approaches. Additionally, there is a very strong involvement with the 12-step programs as a part of the broadening of our philosophical underpinnings.
Our program provides services to any individual who believes that they can benefit from our professional services.
