A COMPLETE LIST OF THE NESS CENTER SERVICES
The NESS Counseling Center Inc.,
a non-profit, non-sectarian, organization was
founded in 1996 by Dennis Brown, based upon counseling
principles developed over his 20-year plus professional,
clinically-based career. Current Ness Center programs
include treatment of drug and alcohol addiction,
domestic violence perpetrators, sex offenders
and survivors, and survivors of child abuse, mental
health counseling, monitored chhild visitation
and exchanges, and family crisis intervention.
Each person placed in our care receives
an in-depth, including a comprehensive review
of personal history, to determine the nature and
explore possible root causes, of their specific
problem. Based upon our analysis, a specifically
designed treatment program is then implemented
to develop a process to immediately stem the problem
behavior, and to alter the individual's behavioral
patterns in order to create lasting change.
Our basic premise is that each individual
must take responsibility for his or her actions
- both those that caused problems and those that
will ultimately lead to long-term positive change.
The NESS Counseling Center defines
recovery as the purpose of counseling, and personal
responsibility as the essence of recovery.
The NESS Counseling Center incorporates
traditional clinical psychological counseling
with the principles of the 12-step programs, and
other holistic therapies and treatments to create
awareness. Treatment may incorporate such diverse
approaches as parenting skills, anger management,
or lifestyle counseling to further empower a client.
Other links to wellness may include referrals
for acupuncture, music or art therapy, nutrition
classes or any number of other alternative procedures.
We offer an unusually large and diverse selection
of approaches that allow virtually any type of
deviant conduct to be confronted from multiple
perspectives, thus maximizing the likelihood of
successful behavior modification.
Furthermore, since every person
possesses mind, body and soul, all three elements
must be dealt with to bring about genuine change.
Thus, universally accepted, spiritually-centered,
non-sectarian values and ethics are at the core
of our program. These principles acknowledge a
"higher being" and strive to increase
awareness of basic tenets that are inherent in
all fair, just, well-run societies.
Each client's progress is monitored
and analyzed in weekly staff meetings to assure
the best available interventions are being utilized
in the most effective ways. Based upon our experience,
the key to successfully intervening in "hard
bitten cases" such as domestic violence or
sexual predators is maintaining flexibility in
all realms of service.
